My Why…
Why do I start my mornings so early…
It was never for selfish ambition and it was never intended for me time…
It was a strong yearning and calling from the Lord. It was that small still voice, the Holy Spirit, that whispered there is so much more I have for you, so much I want to tell you, so much I want to show you…
But…
I need you to spend time with Me… time in My word. I need you to sacrifice and wake up early to be with Me.
I never knew what all that meant and what it would reveal once I started being consistent and diligent in obeying his command. After many failed attempts, I mean, I tried all the things, I asked friends to join me, I asked for accountability calls to wake up, I put my phone somewhere else so I have to get out of bed to turn off my alarm, you name it I tried it.
All of that to say you can try all the gimmicks and all the accountability, but if you don’t have a why, a reason to push yourself out of bed you will never consistently stick to it. You may be consistent for awhile but it wont carry you.
Find your passion…
I’ll go back to the beginning it was never selfish ambition. The reason I say that is because if you just do it for you it wont last. Again what is your passion?
I knew I wanted more I knew my answer was in His word. I knew that I would be a better wife and mom, if I woke up early and put Him first. I knew I needed to set my heart in His word to be the best version of myself, for my family and for the Lord. I knew it would help with the bad mornings, rushing, yelling, lack of patience etc…
I needed to be present. I needed to be responsive when God called. I needed to be the joyful strong leader my family needed.
Your passion needs to drive you.
My passion is the Lord. Whatever He calls me to do I do. He is my reason, my everything, my why.
If I’m not walking in His calling I’m not doing it.
These are my passions that get me out of bed:
- Seek first (nothing comes before the Lord, and not just the week days, everyday.)
- Workout, I’m a firm believer in feeling your best, when you feel your best you have energy for the rest.
- My calling. I have a huge passion to lead others. To tell them there’s so much more if you seek first, if you start these daily disciplines, you will start to see the fruit it will bear. I spend a portion of my mornings pouring into others.
I’ll leave you with these two questions:
WHAT IS YOUR WHY?
WHAT IS YOUR PASSION?
